How to prune a peach tree?

prune out all the dead, any branches growing toward the middle of the tree, any branches that cross others and rub or will rub another branch as it gets bigger. Prune the outside perimeter or canopy so that branches aren't growing downward and you can walk or mow around the tree without getting whacked in the head. As the groups of flowers mature it can be beneficial to thin out these groups to facilitate bigger fruit and decrease the weight on any one node as left alone these flowers can each become an individual peach. Certain spraying regimens can be helpful with either oils and soaps or chemicals to reduce insect and disease damage. The library has books to explain all this in more detail.
