He is a gentleman, but is he taking me for granted already?

Talk to him. Call him or text him even though he has been remiss in texting you, etc. Maybe he is busy and/or felt like you should try to reach him first. It is also early in your relationship and maybe he needs time to really know what he wants. Give it time and hopefully things will work out.
